Eric is a Melbourne-based contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture and photomedia. Through figurative imagery, layered surfaces and material experimentation, they examine how invisible states such as vulnerability, memory and empathy become visible. Their work occupies the threshold between presence and absence, where bodies emerge, dissolve or are transformed. What is missing becomes as active as what is shown.
These ideas develop through a process of exploration, observation, drawing and making. Working primarily with oil on canvas alongside sculptural processes, Eric creates works that remain open to interpretation. The human figure functions not as portrait but as a shared symbol through which viewers project themselves. Domestic objects, rooms, draped forms carry psychological weight, staging absence and memory. The atmosphere of the work is one of quiet stillness and aftermath. It conveys the feeling that something has happened without explaining what.
Eric has exhibited at Huw Davies Gallery in Canberra and Brunswick Street Gallery in Melbourne. They were a finalist in the INPRNT Photography Award presented by Beautiful Bizarre magazine, and undertook an artist residency at APG Works in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Their work is held in private collections.
