Eric was selected to exhibit in the View 2020 group exhibition showcasing future leaders in photomedia practice from the ACT and surrounding regions.
In ‘Depths’, Eric explores the overwhelming darkness created by the technologies modern society offers. We choose these tools, then become addicted. They pressure us to perform and conform, flooding us with impossible standards. Failure becomes the norm. Rituals meant to protect us instead plunge us deeper into our own psyches.
Developing this concept, Eric worked on the streets of Sydney, deliberately slowing the process of capturing candid images to expose the hidden dynamics of a scene that would otherwise be lost. Eric used the large scale of the final print to amplify the blurred motion of this busy district, a parallel to the overwhelming flow of information in our lives.
