Biography and exhibition history

Eric (b. 1971, Hobart, Australia) is a contemporary artist based in Melbourne, Australia. Working across photomedia, painting, and sculpture, Eric is known for his deliberate and heavy-handed interpretation of his subject matter juxtaposing stark black-and-white environments with vivid saturated colors to create compelling visual contrasts.

Eric’s work explores the complexities of the human condition, focusing on the tension between the polished facades we present to the world and the realities of our lived experiences. His distinctive style is characterized by a bold expressive approach that blends traditional and contemporary techniques. A pivotal point in his career was a series of works where he moved away from traditional printing methods incorporating more of his own hand in the final works. This marked a significant evolution in his practice, deepening the tactile and emotive qualities of his art.

Eric’s works have been exhibited at notable venues such as the Brunswick St Gallery in Melbourne and the Huw Davies Gallery in Canberra, Australia. His art is included in various private collections and has garnered recognition as a finalist in the INPRINT Photography Award organized by Beautiful Bizarre magazine. Eric has also undertaken an artist residency at APG Works in Sheffield, United Kingdom, further enriching his practice.
